COURSE INFORMATION

CONVENOR: Leata Ioelu

This course is designed for students who have completed the biennium of philosophy. Rather than formal lectures, the course is designed around reading and discussion. The methodology is:

  • Students are to read the corresponding text/s in preparation for each day. 
  • The facilitator will give a quick summary and some personal comments.
  • Discussion: each student should bring their own observations.
  • Formulate some questions for further study, if necessary.

  • The book we will follow for the course is M. Fazio, History of Contemporary Ideas, trans. Mel Cusi, or M. Fazio, Historia de las ideas contemporáneas (Madrid: Rialp), 2006. This will be supplemented by additional readings on postmodernism. A pdf version of the book is available in the bibliography section below.
